The students were guided by the radio's technical coordinator, Hugo Millar Aguirre; the radio controller, Eduardo Barraza Aguilera; and the announcer, Rodrigo Gutiérrez Zamora, who provided them with a significant learning experience through the explanation of the operation of the control desk, production and the call center. This allowed students to try and confront recording in a professional studio, listen to their own recording and thereby define their next challenges.

The journalism workshop at Colegio María de Andacollo is led by professor Daniela Carvajal, who rescues the motivation of her students and values the availability of Radio Universitaria. “This allows them to really connect with a medium and allows them to consolidate themselves as a radio journalism team. Now we hope that our goal for the semester will be realized, which is the recording of a long-duration program to edit it and upload it to the school website,” she stated.

During the visit, the students expressed great interest in the technical equipment and the experience of recording their voice through the microphone, to later listen to themselves and demonstrate the real process of a radio station. For student Poulette Acevedo, the visit was enriching: “a very nice and unforgettable experience, doing voiceover is something that I really like and I hope to continue learning more to demonstrate my capabilities,” she indicated.

The University of La Serena continues to work on sharing knowledge with the community in response to the institutional seal.

“An unforgettable experience”, this is how the more than 200 students from different schools in La Serena and Coquimbo who enjoyed a new day of the Mobile Planetarium described it.planetarium2

The event, organized by the University of La Serena through an agreement with the National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research, CONICYT, seeks to bring astronomy closer to the community, allowing various activities aimed at schools, university students, community centers and the general public.

Dr. Marcelo Jaque, in charge of the initiative and academic of the Department. of Physics and Astronomy ULS, stated that the balance of the work carried out in the different days of the Mobile Planetarium has been a success. "The call fills up in half an hour. We make the call and the places are filled very quickly. The planetarium is practically becoming a necessity for the community, they know it exists and they are waiting for this initiative to generate the link and thus students can learn more about astronomy," he said.

This Mobile Planetarium works as a circular theater, combining astronomical knowledge with dissemination, bringing the mysteries of the universe and its most surprising aspects to the community.

Martina, who is in the sixth year of basic education at the Colegio Alemán de La Serena, participated with her classmates, who were able to learn more details about the universe. "I really liked the card game, I had a lot of fun with my friends and the planetarium was a very nice experience. I liked the galaxies they showed, the constellations, all that."planetarium3

Patricio Díaz, counselor at the Domingo Santa María de La Serena School, highlighted the enthusiasm of the students to learn more about astronomy and generate a first encounter between the girls and boys with the University. "This instance allows us to break the school routine and access learning in a more playful, innovative way and get closer to the world of science within a university campus. It delivers and produces the development of skills that today we want to enhance in our students," he said. the teacher.

For her part, Francisca Tabilo, student of Mathematics and Physics Pedagogy at the University of La Serena, and monitor at the mobile planetarium, highlighted the new tools that participating in this initiative gives her. “Seeing children in different activities related to science is wonderful. The amazement they have when they are inside, when they leave or when they ask their questions, in that sense, the experience is different from a professional practice.”

In this way, the University of La Serena continues to work on sharing knowledge with the community in response to the institutional seal.
