In order to strengthen the professional skills of the students of the various postgraduate degrees of the University of La Serena, the ULS Postgraduate and Postgraduate Directorate organized the course called: “High Impact Scientific Writing”, whose crucial objective is to teach the basic concepts of writing for publication and implementing basic structures so that students pursuing master's and doctoral degrees can write a paper and have it accepted by editors and specialized scientific journals.

This activity, which is part of a cycle of events aimed at postgraduate students, lasts 16 face-to-face hours, divided into 4 days of intense work, which include practical work based on real papers, theory and tips to understand the publications process.

“It is aimed at postgraduate students who work in programs where research is required, for example, master's degrees in science, doctoral students; It will allow them to be prepared to write high-impact academic articles, it is a technique that must be learned and developed and that must be discovered,” highlighted Rojas-Méndez, who emphasized the need to know the basic aspects to write optimally.

The purpose of the course is to know the rules of academic publications to be able to publish, feel confident to carry out writing and writing work in a way that is acceptable in recognized journals, and learn to review and improve macro and micro aspects of the writing a manuscript.

The search for answers to current challenges in the application of semiconductor materials, energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, promoting multidisciplinary interaction, is the main topic that will be addressed by the Congress on Energy, Efficiency and Environmental Sustainability (CEES) organized by the University of La Serena and the REDES 180038 Project.

Dr. Adriana Mera, president of the Multidisciplinary Research Institute of Science and Technology of the ULS, invited on behalf of the organizing committee to be part of this congress. “We hope that this congress contributes to the creation of spaces for dialogue, reaffirming our social and environmental responsibility to generate technological and scientific development in the areas of Energy, Efficiency and Environmental Sustainability, to face and respond to current relevant challenges. world in these areas,” he explained.

Regarding Agreement of the Fourth Extraordinary Session of the Board of Directors, held on Friday, June 07, 2019.

Governor Norambuena positively welcomed the request for restitution of spaces on the ULS campus and used the powers granted to her by the Law.

The request, formulated by the Rector Nibaldo Avilés, responded to what was required by the Agreements of the Academic Council and the Honorable Board of Directors, collegiate bodies that mandated the Rector and authorities to take steps for the restitution of the Campus.
