Regarding this visit, Rector Farías pointed out that “the University of La Serena has been a fundamental institution in the first stage of developing this project. The University was the one in charge of the prefeasibility study project and currently the preparation of the design of the construction project, so we have an articulation. Furthermore, the University is part of our Board of Directors and we are going to continue this path with challenges that may be very interesting in the future, such as curricular articulation, the generation of alliances for research projects and technology transfer; In short, we are visualizing common work spaces and how we integrate into the eaves of what the new Higher Education Law proposes to us.”

For his part, Rector Nibaldo Avilés stated that “the idea is to see the possibilities of starting joint work and, in addition, to see how the curricular part could be adjusted, at some point, thinking about the continuity that the students could have. . “Re Encuentro” was called the event that brought together students from the 2018 and 2017 generation of the Program and representatives of the different departments and units that work directly with the student body.

The team from the Higher Education Accompaniment Area (AES), together with the Communications team and the PEM Area of ​​the Accompaniment and Effective Access to Higher Education Program (PACE) of the University of La Serena, organized “Re Encuentro”, an activity framed in the 2018 Operational Plan of the Program and that sought for the 2017 and 2018 generation students to get to know closely the representatives of the various support networks that the house of higher education has.

The AES psychologist, Paula Vargas, explained that this meeting “aimed to generate articulation, monitoring and referral actions carried out with IES PACE support networks inside and outside our educational institution, and to bring together our students from the 2017 and 2018 generation and the internal support networks of the University of La Serena, such as our peer tutors, mentors, the ULS team of social workers, among others.”

The day considered various recreational activities, which were moderated by members of the PACE ULS team and the Psychology interns that the team has recently received.

The Coordinator of the ULS Student Welfare Department, Patricia Astroza, gave her appreciation of the activity: “I think this event is very important, and it also takes place in a relaxed, playful and entertaining environment, where students feel at home and like The support networks have said it, they are a family and we are families among all and happy to participate with the colleagues who are part of the Department.”

In addition, student Cristian Araya expressed that “it has been very entertaining, the games, the dynamics and the animation have been very good; I personally did not know the entire PACE team, the tutors, the social workers and I feel that this is very beneficial for us to be able to function better within the University”.

These words were joined by the student María José Rojas, who indicated: “I loved it, I feel that it is an opportunity to get out of the routine, to be able to share more closely with the professionals, both from the Program and from other support networks. of the University".

On the other hand, the tutor of the PACE ULS Program of the Audit degree, Joice Algüerno, stated: “I found it to be a very entertaining and dynamic meeting, so that we as tutors can get to know each other better and also the PACE team and, of course, the students".

Within the activity, space was given to each of the representatives of the students' support networks to talk about the work that each of them performs within the house of higher education: Health Service, Student Welfare and PACE tutors.
