Academics of the Dept. of Industrial Engineering meet with graduates who work in Santiago

The ICI ULS Santiago Node has allowed the network of graduates of the program to develop and grow, facilitating employability, as well as feedback from professionals.

A meeting with the graduates of the Industrial Civil Engineering program who are working in Santiago - an activity is held at least once a year, the director of the Department recently stated. of Industrial Engineering from ULS, M.Sc. Óscar Contreras, and academics from the unit, with the idea of ​​keeping the ICI ULS Santiago Node active, which is in permanent communication via Linkedin. 

“Having established this Node has allowed us to develop and grow the network of graduates of our career, facilitating employability, as well as feedback from our professionals, in order to make improvements in the academic training of our current students, who on the day tomorrow, they will face the world of work," said the manager.

On this occasion, academics Óscar Contreras, Alejandro Álvarez and Christian Acuña, made a presentation with the development of the main activities carried out in the Department (infrastructure, research projects, publications, etc.) in the last 3 years. Furthermore, the manager indicated that "emphasis was placed on the current accreditation process in which the degree is underway, obtaining a very good predisposition from our graduates to continue participating in said process."

Likewise, the academic highlighted the important support received from the Graduate Office of the University of La Serena, which since the network began has sent a representative to collect or update contact information, conduct surveys, request jobs and provides job placement information. On this occasion, he had the support of the professional of said unit, Viviana Vásquez. 

During the month of April, the same meeting will be held, but in La Serena, in order to continue working with the graduates at the ICI ULS La Serena Node.
