The activity is part of the initiatives generated by the PMI FIP ULS1501 to support those issues that future teachers will have to face in the workplace.

Different topics have been discussed in the series of workshops organized by the Integrated Management of Pedagogies Unit (UGIP), with the purpose of strengthening methodological aspects of pedagogy students. On this occasion, the first part of the workshop “Challenges of the parents' meeting” was held, taught by Ps. Andres Hoces, where they worked on how to approach a meeting of parents in their role as a teacher.

Next, a role-play was carried out, simulating a meeting of parents, where each teacher in training had to introduce themselves to the class, with the purpose of appreciating their arrogance, strengths and weaknesses. Subsequently, each attendee was able to express how they felt when personifying this role, self-evaluating their performance.

Then the participants reflected on the ideal of what education would be and the respective responsibilities that both the family and the school have versus what is experienced in reality.

Finally, through a practical exercise they jointly constructed the challenges that the parents' meeting entails, highlighting the most important demands to be addressed, such as the generation of interest and commitment in the parents, school coexistence, communication between parents and children, support of learning at home, among others.

They must leave the comfort zone and mobilize. They have to generate bonds, human relationships, both with their students and with their parents. Each one is a different world and they must think from each reality about how they will contribute to this system,” said the professional.

The teacher-in-training of Pedagogy in History and Geography, Mateo Araya, expressed that “from the first moment I began to think in response to the proposals of the themes that were coming out, it was very interesting and above all seeing it as an unavoidable challenge that we are going to face.” deal".

The most relevant aspects will be worked on in depth in the second part of the workshop, which will take place on Wednesday, November 22, at 16:15 p.m., in a room to be confirmed.
