The academics of the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences of the University of La Serena, Orlando Robles and Carlos Varas, participated in the Binational Conference on Games, Simulation and Education, organized by the Pixel Brain Laboratory, in commemoration of the 10 years of creation of the Faculty of Education of the Catholic University of Cuyo, Argentina. The meeting took place in the Province of San Juan, on October 11, 12 and 13.

On the occasion, representatives of the ULS, Universidad Santo Tomás, Universidad Tecnológica de Chile INACAP, Universidad Nacional de San Juan and Universidad Católica de Cuyo presented their research work on the use of video games, board games, virtual reality and computer and physical simulations for educational purposes, among other topics.

Academic Orlando Robles spoke about technology transfer. “I received the invitation from the Games and Simulation Laboratory, Pixel Brain, to present on university management, specifically technology transfer, a topic under development for our institution, in which Argentine academic colleagues have shown special interest,” he explained.

The exhibition, held in the Aula Magna Monseñor Manfredi of the Catholic University of Cuyo, contemplated theoretical aspects of technology transfer, as well as the challenges that the Government, Industry and Universities are addressing together in terms of innovation. Additionally, the HUB APTA initiative was exhibited, in which the University of La Serena has participated during the last two years, and which seeks to support and strengthen the development and technological transfer generated as a result of university research in our country.

For his part, academic Carlos Varas spoke on "Leisure learning strategies for the Administration area", where he shared experience in the use of board games focused on collaborative work, game creation and the experience of the University of La Serena in these methodologies. didactics. In addition, he shared results of research that is being carried out on the subject.

The scientific meeting also included the participation of the director of SECITI, Lic. Fabiana Guerrero, who referred to the "Origin, evolution and current state of a provincial educational games contest." While the Secretary of Economic Policy, Mg. Alejandro Moreno highlighted the provincial promotion policies on the knowledge economy, which includes a plan for the promotion of educational video games.

Based on this binational activity, the institutions proposed lines of collaborative work through actions aimed at generating new research instances in both Coquimbo and San Juan, organizing a second games meeting in the Coquimbo Region and managing a joint publication .
