On the occasion the election of the 2014-2016 period directive was held, being elected to preside in the Board Dr. Adelio Matamala V., dean of the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Concepción.

During the 24 and 25 days in April, the 1st Annual Meeting of the National Council of Deans of Faculties of Natural and Exact Sciences of CRUCH was held at the University of La Serena, chaired by the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences of the ULS, Dr Gustavo Labbé Morales, in dependencies of the house of superior studies.

With the participation of 16 deans of Science Faculties, and with the presence of the academic vice-rector, Dr. Jorge Catalán Ahumada, who on behalf of the rector, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés Pizarro, welcomed the deans present, proceeded to address the topics covered in the program of activities, among which was analyzed: '' Impact of the Ranking of grades in the university selection, case Faculty of Sciences, University of La Serena '', presented by Dr. Gustavo Labbé. Subsequently, a round table was developed to address the topic: '' Institutionality in Higher Education, proposal of the National Council of Deans of Faculties of Natural and Exact Sciences of CRUCH '', directed by Dr. Samuel Navarro H., past president of the Council, concluding with a manifesto that will be sent to the Minister of Education and the CRUCH. An analysis of the Statutes of the Board, whose Legal Personality was obtained by the current board of directors, and propose changes that facilitate its functioning, was also carried out.

On Friday 25, meanwhile, the election of the directive period 2014-2016 was held, being elected to preside in the Board Dr. Adelio Matamala V., dean of the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Concepción. Finally, work groups were set up for this period and the II Annual Meeting of the Council was scheduled. The new president Dr. Adelio Matamala, thanked Dr. Gustavo Labbé for his role as president in the 2011-2014 period, highlighting his perseverance and impetus to keep the Council in constant activity.
