PACE ULS Program carried out AES Participatory Project “Architectural Journey”

The objective of this instance was to perfect and expand the knowledge of each student of the current PACE generation, visiting different places that are related to the history of local architecture, in addition to increasing their interest in the Architecture career of the state campus.

The Higher Education Support area (AES) of the Support and Effective Access to Higher Education Program, PACE Universidad La Serena, carried out the Participatory Project (PP) “Architectural Journey - History of Chilean Architecture”, executed by students and a peer tutor, guided by the House of Studies Program team.

pace architecture2The objective of this instance was to perfect and expand the knowledge of each student of the current PACE generation, visiting different places that are related to the history of local architecture, leaving, in turn, a digital record of the places, experiences and the opinions during the trip, in order to present it to new generations.

Specifically, it was determined to create a digital record of this academic trip, to share the experience lived with the new PACE generations, motivating them to participate in the Program's activities and, in addition, increase interest in the career of Architecture.

In this regard, the peer tutor and student of the Architecture program, María José Mercado, expressed that “the objectives and impact of the project will be documented in a digital record, which will be a backup of the different activities, experiences and testimonies of the students. participants. Once the video is finished, it will be available for the School of Architecture and the PACE ULS Accompaniment Program.” And he added that "another important point was to expand the knowledge of students in training in relation to architectural works, in order to develop and increase interest in buildings in our country, providing necessary material for better academic performance."

pace architecture3In addition, the person in charge of Participatory Projects and PACE ULS Extension, Nicolás Guerrero, expressed that “it is expected that with these planned activities, students will be able to maintain active participation within the university community, integrating more and better with the activities carried out by the University. , also promoting other aspects that go directly into the development of their comprehensive training as future professionals.”
In the execution of this Participatory Project (PP), the participants visited Coquimbo, La Serena, El Molle, Vicuña and Paihuano to visit different places of architectural interest, which are emblematic and relevant to the progress of the students.
