With proof of participation, Sign Language workshops carried out through the Institutional Development Project were completed.

The objective was to continue with the basis of the inclusion of people with hearing disabilities and their right to have equal opportunities and participation in all areas.

With the fundamental purpose of continuing to train students, officials and professionals of the University of La Serena, in the areas of education and engineering, in Sign Language, different workshops were held organized and awarded within the framework of the projects of the Ministry of Education, Institutional Development Fund -FDI- of the Student Entrepreneurship line.

sign language2The workshops, which ended with a closing ceremony where different university authorities and professionals from the institution participated, were based on the inclusion of people with hearing disabilities and their right to equal opportunities and participation, promoting respect for diversity, in addition to creating inclusive awareness in students about the accessibility and inclusion of deaf people.

The training was carried out at different levels, both basic, intermediate and fourth level facilitator, which generated a continuity of training and learning, since students from previous courses were able to resume classes, thus achieving a level of compelling experience to put it into practice. in the places where they work.

Among the specific objectives that stood out in carrying out these workshops was knowing and managing concepts such as culture and identity of deaf people and their needs, creating social awareness on the issue of accessibility at the University, disseminating sign language as an effective tool for social and educational inclusion of the deaf community and provide a useful learning tool to students to have better job competence in issues of accessibility and respect for diversity.
