Maintaining constant loyalty with students with a graduation profile and active contact networks were the main objectives of this activity.

The challenge was to reach the top of Cerro Grande and thus be able to reconnect with nature, as well as do something different with the classmates with whom they share the classrooms at the University of La Serena. That was the purpose of Hiking 2019, where more than 50 students joined together to climb from the foothills to the summit of this well-known Serene hill.

hiking2Before beginning the climb, the participants - mostly students with a graduation profile and ULS graduates - got in tune with the preparation exercises carried out by trainers from the Sportlife Fourth Region Gym, strategic allies of this activity.

Once the participants began the walk, they were able to hydrate themselves at the points that Aguas del Valle had made available as a commitment to sports and healthy living. Likewise, the Mutual de Seguridad and Carabineros of Chile were present, who ensured the safety of those who attended the successful event.

After reaching the top, the participants were able to interact with each other through a team builder day led by the work psychologist of the ULS Graduate Monitoring Office, Mg. Rodrigo Davanzo, who prepared various competition and teamwork activities, making evident the importance of these when entering a company to work or when searching for work.

hiking3The students were very grateful for this opportunity and considered it a good way to begin building new contact networks.

“I really found this experience fabulous, because we were able to meet former colleagues and professionals from the ULS, we were also able to play sports and the activities they did at the top of the hill were very entertaining; Doing yoga outdoors or playing different team dynamics is something that is not seen in common gatherings. They were super creative and I appreciate this opportunity,” said the Business Engineering graduate, Ximena Agüero.

The ascent to Cerro Grande is one of the actions carried out by the ULS Graduate Monitoring Office and that seeks to build loyalty and integrate the community of graduated and graduated students with their Alma Mater, through recreational and leisure activities. Added to this are the coaching workshops for job placement and redirecting early contact networks.
