This initiative sought to generate a contribution to the social inclusion of people with disabilities.

Equality in the right to fully live sexuality and reproductive life for people with or without disabilities was the central axis of the discussion “Talking about Sexual and Reproductive Health of People with Disabilities in the View of Human Rights”, a meeting organized by the University of La Serena, with support from the National Disability Service.

inclusion2The activity included the participation of the Regional Director of SENADIS, Jorge Juárez, the Integrated Sexual Education team of the Universidad Católica del Norte and the academic from the University of Chile, Carolina Pérez, who spoke about the reality of the rights of life sexuality of people with disabilities, seeking to break existing myths on this topic.

The academic of the Department of Education and coordinator of the 1799 project, Dr. Georgina García, referred to the commitment that the University has to integration. “Working for the right of people with disabilities is not only theirs, but also a civil society that is empowered and believes that all people have the right to comprehensive development, in education, at work, in sexuality and emotions, and being able to have spaces where these discussions take place is important for the ULS,” he said.

The activity took place in the Auditorium Room of the “Gabriela Mistral” Regional Library and included the participation of members of different organizations focused on integration, as well as students from the university.
