The first talk of the 2019 cycle had a wide call and had as its first speaker the Director of the Sustainability Observatory of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Chile, Mg. Reinalina Chavarri.

At the Enrique Molina Garmendia Campus, the first exhibition was held within the framework of the “Chair of Public Policies and Sustainable Development”, whose guest, Mg. Reinalina Chavarri, belonging to the FEN of the University of Chile, offered the talk “Sustainable Development for the XNUMXst Century”, thus generating a space for conversation and criticism regarding the topic.facse2 chair

During the meeting, which had a large number of participants, including students, academics and special guests, those present were able to listen carefully to the vision of what it means to be sustainable and adapt to new times, highlighting the ways of governing, as well as the generation of new public policies, where the guest was emphatic in saying that, without the space for participation, these would not represent citizens.

For the Mg. Reinalina Chavarri, being the first speaker of this series of meetings that will be held at the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences of the University of La Serena, is a privilege, since it gives a space for permanent dialogue to young people who are forming their opinion criticism regarding public policies and sustainable development.

“Traditionally, public policies are the way in which the State and its governments resolve or solve society's problems, and in that definition, those impacted by public policies seem to be all citizens; However, environmental issues have particularities, and will depend on the territory, geographical characteristics, and types of production, more at the local level. There must be broad guidelines for a country, but expressed with the particularities of the territory, who are those directly or indirectly impacted, because without that they do not make sense and hence the importance of having participation and dialogue," emphasized the Director of the Sustainability Observatory of the FEN University of Chile.facse4 chair

The words that inaugurated the first presentation of the Chair were given by the Dean of the FACSE, Dr. Luperfina Rojas, who thanked the high attendance and was clear in pointing out that new times are accompanied by new challenges, especially in sustainability, which is where everyone's commitment is required.

“This Chair allows us to bring together all the disciplinary areas that are developed in our Faculty, on the one hand, we have Education, Social Sciences, Law, Communication and sustainable development is linked mainly to the areas of Commercial Engineering, Administration Engineering , Assistant accountant. We must know how to work without damaging the environment and achieve a society that allows us to project ourselves between now and 2030. This Chair goes in that direction, providing and having a space for discussion, reflection, analysis, where we can dialogue and build a better society." , assured the first authority of the Faculty.
