With the objective of working towards an institutional accreditation process that ensures quality in the training process of the faculties of Social and Economic Sciences and Engineering of the University of La Serena, the workshop “Ensuring quality in the process” was developed. formative. The activity was attended by the Rector of the university, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés, as well as authorities and academics from both faculties, who actively participated in the presentation focused on the training process of their students.

For Rector Avilés, “it is important to implement new processes that ensure the quality of academic training within the university. “The future of any institution and, above all, universities, is absolutely related to the implementation of integrated quality systems, a necessary process for us to move forward. As the University of La Serena we have worked on important advances to comply with the standards established by this system, facing the next accreditation process,” he specified.

During the workshop, international models were presented on the implementation of quality in the training processes of universities and the results they have in the long term. This was explained by the project manager of the accrediting agency of the College of Engineers of Chile, Mg. Jessica Pizarro: “new ways of looking at student results and the impact this generates on comprehensive institutional accreditation were presented. The idea is to improve what has been done, through new international trends in how to look at training processes and focus on student results; The mission now is for the institution to take this new system into its Educational Model and incorporate it as part of daily work, demonstrating that it is work that ensures quality.”
