More than 100 people attended the II Workshop on Pedagogical Strategies to delve deeper into sensory disabilities

The meeting, which brought together students, professors and special guests, was held with the presence of two expert speakers on the subject from the UMCE.

In order to provide students with a graduation profile and teachers in the regular education system with information about the inclusion in the classroom of students with visual and hearing disabilities, the University of La Serena held the II Workshop on Pedagogical Strategies for Diversity, at the Gabriela Mistral Regional Library.

inclusion2 encounterOn the occasion, there was the presence of two expert speakers on the subject, academics from the Department of Education of the Metropolitan University of Educational Sciences, who presented before more than 100 people who came to the place.

The first talk, called “Classroom Support for Students with Visual Disabilities”, was given by Mg. Lucía Millán; while the second presentation was given by Mg. Ángela Soteras, who spoke with “Towards a Fair and Quality Education for the Deaf Community.” Both responding to the public's questions and concerns regarding the topic.

The second phase of the meeting consisted of the development of a case analysis workshop, where groups were organized and were able to work collaboratively; At the time, attendees were able to propose pedagogical and social management strategies, all guided by the professional Alejandra Galleguillos, belonging to the ULS Project 1799 “Comprehensive support plan for students of the University of La Serena, in a framework of inclusion and universal accessibility ”.

Professionals from the Student Welfare Department, ULS Learn Program, SIBULS and the Joint Committee were present at the activity.

The meeting included the opening words of the person in charge of the ULS1799 Project and academic, Dr. Georgina García, who thanked the massive presence and urged people to continue participating in the meetings that are held around such an important topic, such as inclusion. .
