The instance seeks to promote cultural change in such important issues as recycling and sustainability.
A week full of activities aimed at environmental awareness has organized the University of La Serena, through the Association of Officials ULS and the Center for Environmental Civil Engineering Students, in order to generate spaces for conversation about sustainability , recycling and clean points.
The Environmental Awareness Week will take place between the 9 and 12 in September and includes several activities, including sustainability talks, to be held on Mondays 9 Thursday 12, from 09: 00 to 12: 00 hrs ., in the Multipurpose room of CETECFI; the “Eco ULS” Environmental Fair, scheduled for Tuesday 10, from 11: 00 to 17: 00 hrs., in the front of the Irma Salas Silva Central Library; and the inauguration of a Clean Point during the same day, at 15: 30 hrs., and that will be located next to this last university campus.
These activities were completed after students of the Environmental CEC proposed “to do something with the garbage” generated by the ULS and thus promote cultural change regarding recycling and environmental awareness. In parallel, AFULS officials had similar ideas, so they joined forces and this week of activities open to the community took shape.
AFULS will be in charge of financing the initiative through funds granted by the institution for these purposes, and which were allocated for use during the course of the 2019. Students will manage activities, which will be supported by officials.
The training of auxiliaries of the Directorate of Services of the Isabel Bongard and Ignacio Domeyko campuses was also considered.
