As part of Environmental Awareness Week, the CEC of Environmental Civil Engineering and AFULS organized a series of talks on sustainability by different experts in caring for the environment and reusing resources.

Delivering a message of awareness about caring for the environment to the university community is the main objective of Environmental Awareness Week, an event organized by the Student Center of the Environmental Civil Engineering career in conjunction with the Association of Officials of the University of La Serena, with the support of the Faculty of Engineering and Rotaract Club La Serena Oriente.sustainability talk3

One of the ways in which we have sought to deliver this message is through a series of talks on sustainability, open to the public and given by experts in matters of environmental care and the reuse of resources for efficient use.

The first of these days of talks took place on September 9 in the Multipurpose Room of the Technology Center of the Faculty of Engineering of the Ignacio Domeyko Campus, an occasion on which the president of the CEC, Enrique González, explained that “the idea is to be able to deliver a message of awareness about caring for the environment and within the programmed activities, we have created educational spaces where people can learn what the applied circular economy is like and how to bring it to their daily lives.”

For her part, the president of AFULS, Karina Núñez, indicated: “for us as officials it is important to be able to collaborate with entities that encourage care for the environment, which is why we have collaborated with Environmental Awareness Week and we hope to be able to generate and contribute with new instances of this type.”

The presentations were given by Cristián Lincoqueo, manager of LKKW Spa; Alejandro Romero, zonal deputy manager of Aguas del Valle, and Cristian Baquedano, executive of Innovation and Competitiveness Water Resources Axis at the Regional Corporation for Productive Development.

A second day of talks will take place this Thursday, September 12, along with other initiatives that seek to raise awareness in the university community about caring for the environment.
