Mathematics and Computer Science teachers participate in training

With a talk-workshop by the Mathematics Coordinator of the Curriculum and Evaluation Unit of the MINEDUC, Dr. Pamela Reyes, the free courses offered by the Department of Mathematics and the Pedagogy in Mathematics and Computing degree at the University of The Serena.

In the context of the implementation of the new curricular bases for 3rd and 4th grade, established by the Ministry of Education, the Department of Mathematics and the Pedagogy in Mathematics and Computing career of the University of La Serena offered free courses for teachers Mathematics guides and teachers who graduated from the course.

mathematical training2There were more than 40 teachers from the regions of Coquimbo and Atacama, who participated in the courses, “Digital Applications for Computational Thinking”, carried out by the team coordinated by Professor Rafael Tirado, and “Limits, Derivatives and Integrals”, taught by Dr. Gustavo Labbé, carried out during this training.

Along with this, the talk-workshop was held: “The XNUMXst Century and Curricular Changes in Mathematics”, given by Dr. Pamela Reyes, Mathematical Coordinator of the Curriculum and Evaluation Unit of the MINEDU, during the last day of this training.

The exhibition allowed the participating teachers to learn about the changes that are coming to the school curriculum, in the area of ​​Mathematics, and particularly with regard to the area of ​​Computational Thinking. Furthermore, during the session, the speaker answered the questions raised by the teachers, which was valued by the participants.

The guiding teachers and graduates showed great enthusiasm and commitment upon returning to the university classrooms; They valued the initiative managed by the Department and the Course, and at the same time, expressed the need for a continuous approach on the part of the institution to its teaching work.

This activity took place during the week of January 13 to 17, in the offices of the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Physics.
