Research is one of the central themes at the University of La Serena. This is why the Vice-Rector for Research and Postgraduate Studies will teach its 3rd version of the course “The Path to Academic Publication on Teaching in Higher Education”.

The objective is to provide tools for the process that academic publication entails, whether in a relevant educational experience or research on teaching.

The Vice-Rector for Research and Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Eduardo Notte Cuello, emphasized that “imparting and generating new knowledge is essentially the work of the University's academics. In general, academics are characterized by a high specialization in their respective areas, but it is not natural for specialists to make their teaching a research, identify solutions to teaching problems, and in some cases, reorient the way of imparting knowledge. and that is precisely what is sought with this academic writing course, which is taught on this occasion for the third time.”

Regarding the day, the Vice-Rector for Research and Postgraduate Studies highlighted that “the professor in charge of the course is an experienced expert on the subject and has led the activity in the two previous versions, with excellent criticism from the participants, so without "There is no doubt that this third version of the course will be very beneficial for the participants."

The course presenter, academic and researcher at the Multidisciplinary Research Institute of Science and Technology of the ULS, Dr. Haylen Perines Véliz, stated that she was “very happy with the good reception that this third version has had, which seeks nothing more than to support participants in writing articles focused on their own teaching. The idea is to give them certain tools that can be useful to dare to publish, because many have the desire but lack more training to achieve it, and along those lines we have promoted the courses."

After the enormous interest in previous versions, it was decided to teach this course in online mode, aimed at academics who are beginning to prepare academic publications, with a topic focused on teaching in higher education.
