The activity organized by the ULS Interdisciplinary Center for Latin American Studies will seek to promote the adequate articulation of Latin American studies for the harmonious and efficient development of the training process of people.

With the objective of strengthening the social role of higher education and the connection with the community through the dissemination, valorization and transmission of knowledge, contributing to the promotion of Latin American education in its various manifestations, the Interdisciplinary Center for Latin American Studies, In collaboration with the Department of Education of the University of La Serena, the 2020 activities of the Marta Vitar Chair of Education will begin next Monday, June 15.

To begin this year's work, they will hold the conference “Resources and resistances of a nearby philosophy in times of coronavirus” by the professor of Philosophy of Education and director of the Department of History and Philosophy of the Faculty of Humanities and Educational Sciences from the University of the Republic of Uruguay, Dr. Andrea Díaz Genis, starting at 11:30 hrs. in online mode.

This conference will seek to be a space to reflect on the nihilism that appears with the COVID-19 pandemic, which forces awareness of how reason, science and technology are put in check in the blink of an eye. The issue is how to build an education without falling into despair, without falling into indolence, passivity and negativity.
