The interdisciplinary work also involved researchers from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Universidad Católica del Norte and Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain.
“Plain writing in the legal field: An approach from the discourse of specialists”, is the title of the article published during the month of May in Discourse Studies, one of the most important journals in the world for the area of Linguistics (WOS indexing, Impact Factor 1.678), edited by the renowned researcher Teun van Dijk.
The authors Paulina Meza of the University of La Serena; Felipe González-Catalán of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso; Carmen López-Ferrero of the Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona; and Israel Gutiérrez from Universidad Católica del Norte; They are part of this interdisciplinary team made up of two experts in linguistics, one in education and one lawyer.
As the researchers explain, the objective of the text was "to describe the vision of clear writing in the legal field that practicing lawyers have and, from the analysis of the discourse of these specialists, to conceptualize the notion of clear writing in Law" .
It should be noted that the work was carried out within the framework of the FONDECYT Project No. 11170128, which is entitled "Discursive characterization of genres produced by students of Law and Medicine: its relationship with the perception of self-efficacy in writing, the general quality of the text and disciplinary evaluation ”.
