Student attends workshop for future teachers ''Modeling and School Mathematics''

This academic activity was carried out by the Center for Advanced Research in Education and the Center for Mathematical Modeling of the University of Chile.

The student of Pedagogy in Mathematics and Computing at the University of La Serena, Ana Carolina Honores Heredia, participated along with other students from the country, in the Workshop for Future Teachers: ''Modeling and School Mathematics'', during the 30 days and May 31 just passed. This academic activity was carried out by the Center for Advanced Research in Education and the Center for Mathematical Modeling of the University of Chile, with the objective of generating an instance of practical experience and discussion about the importance of mathematical modeling in the teaching of school mathematics and teacher training. 

The workshop was oriented to address the skill of modeling that is presented in the new curricular bases and was aimed at pedagogy students in basic education - with or without a mention in mathematics - and secondary education mathematics pedagogy.

The teaching team was made up of experts: Patricio Felmer, Doctor in Mathematics and National Prize for Exact Sciences; Josefa Perdomo-Díaz, Doctor in Mathematics with a specialty in Mathematics Education; Natalia Ruiz, high school Mathematics teacher and Master in Mathematics; Carmen Gloria Espinoza, high school Mathematics teacher; and Armando Peri, high school Mathematics teacher.
