This academic activity was carried out by the Center for Advanced Research in Education and the Mathematical Modeling Center of the University of Chile.
The student of Pedagogy in Mathematics and Computing of the University of La Serena, Ana Carolina Honores Heredia, participated along with other students of the country, in the Workshop for Future Teachers: '' Modeling and School Mathematics '', during the 30 days and May 31 just past. This academic activity was carried out by the Center for Advanced Research in Education and the Center for Mathematical Modeling of the University of Chile, with the aim of generating an instance of practical experience and discussion about the importance of mathematical modeling in the teaching of school mathematics and teacher training.
The workshop was oriented to address the modeling ability that is presented in the new curricular bases and was aimed at students of pedagogy in basic education -with or without mention in mathematics- and pedagogy in mathematics in secondary education.
The teaching team was composed of the experts: Patricio Felmer, Doctor of Mathematics and National Award of Exact Sciences; Josefa Perdomo-Díaz, PhD in Mathematics with specialization in Mathematics Education; Natalia Ruiz, teacher of Mathematics of Secondary Education and Master in Mathematics; Carmen Gloria Espinoza, teacher of Mathematics of Secondary Education; and Armando Peri, professor of Mathematics of Secondary Education.
