Symphony Orchestra culminates with great success its Cycle of Master Classes from home

The educational training activity had nine dates from July to August, including the training of wind, percussion and string instruments.

After two months of classes conducted remotely, about 20 hours of studies a week and around 180 participants divided into active and listening; The ensemble belonging to the Network of Professional Regional Orchestras of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage completed its Cycle of Master Classes from home with great success and satisfaction. A free learning event that allowed hundreds of participants from different parts of the country to expand their musical knowledge alongside the professional cast.

The interventions were carried out every Wednesday, at 17:30 p.m., through the Zoom platform focused, in the first instance during the month of July, on the study of wind instruments; like the French horn, trumpet and transverse flute; in addition to percussion; by outstanding musicians and performers of the ensemble. Later, during the month of August, it was the turn to immerse themselves in the sounds coming from the string family such as the vioncello, viola and violin at their different levels: initial, intermediate and advanced.

With this last level, the symphonic ensemble lowered the curtain on its educational training activities, led by the OSULS concertmaster, Leonardo Godoy, who led the enrolled students to reflect on the great violin performers throughout history, which contribute a legacy to interpretation; They shared strategies for planning the study and finally, some students showed their progress by interpreting passages from works, where they worked on technical and musical aspects that are applicable to their musical study.

This activity, like the concerts, is part of the annual programming of 'A season like no other' for 2020 and was conducted by Gerson Pierotti (French horn), Sergio Fuentes and Cristian Monreal (trumpet), Gerardo Bluhm ( transverse flute), Pablo Pallero (percussion), Diego Álvarez (violoncello), Polyana Brehmer (viola), Paulina Elgueta (initial level violin), Cecilia Olmos (intermediate level violin) and the concertmaster OSULS (advanced level violin); who interacted with students from Guatemala, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil and Chile.

For reasons of the health contingency in which we find ourselves, the annual programming of the Regional Symphony Orchestra is only possible to be carried out online thanks to the support and financing of the University of La Serena and the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage ; by receiving financing through National Budget Glosa since 2016.
