Faculty of Sciences joins the challenge by preparing to receive a #NewULSQuality

Academic Officersémic@sy administrators participated of the #NuevaCalidadULS workshop, led by the dean's office, they became familiar with the tools and theoretical basis to strengthen competencies to move towards the adoption of a culture of continuous improvement, integrated and collaborative work of the entire institution. 

Nearly 30 members of the Faculty of Sciences, convened by the Dean, Dr. Amelia Ramirez, together with the Directorate of Strategic Development and Quality - Didec, participated virtually in the workshop with the objective of receiving the guidelines and theoretical tools, which will be the framework of reference for the entire ULS community as the institution advances in the development and implementation of the Comprehensive Quality Management System.

During the day, the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, Dr. Amelia Ramírez, welcomed the participants, referring to the context in which the ULS requires adopting new quality standards not only due to regulations, but also to reinforce the actions that carried out in favor of the Institutional Strategic Development Plan. The Dean pointed out that to achieve this challenge it is necessary to “carry out collaborative and coordinated work between the macro-units, the Faculties and all the support units, which allows us to incorporate into our daily work, the quality standards of a Complex University.”

In addition, the Dean referred to the projection of the Faculty of Sciences with a view to the year 2030, encouraging participants to, guided by the #NewQualityULS, continue with the work carried out so far, observing and implementing the methodology that is proposed to us. institutionally.

In turn, the Director of Strategic Development and Quality, Dr. César Espíndola, referred to some of the actions carried out to prepare the institution: “A year ago we took on the task of addressing regulatory changes regarding quality. , visualizing this change from a comprehensive conception, which would allow the development of an institutional philosophy based on the work of permanent quality present in each of the functions that we perform daily, for this we adopted the ISO21001:2018 standard as a pillar for construction of our Comprehensive Quality System, in order to strengthen the skills of each of the members of the institution.”

The workshops are part of the program initiated during 2019, when 30 professionals belonging to different units of the University received training as Leaders in Quality Process Management, preparing to provide support and facilitate the adoption of the #NewQualityULS.
