Academic gives lecture at World Congress of Learning Styles

Dr. Margarita García participated in the conference “Digital Workshops and their relationship with learning styles”, where she related the experience developed in 2012 and 2013 in the “My Digital Workshop” project..

At the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, in the city of Lima, the VI World Congress of Learning Styles: New Applications and Areas of Intervention was held, a meeting in which the academic from the Department of Mathematics and coordinator of the Center for Educational Computing participated. from the University of La Serena, Dr. Margarita García Astete, and which brought together teachers, researchers and professionals from various areas, who shared the results of studies, applications and experiences on learning and teaching styles, at an educational and business level. 

The main focus of interest of the meeting was to learn about new applications and areas of intervention in which the study of learning styles demonstrates its potential as a pedagogical approach.

On the occasion, Dr. Margarita García participated with the conference “Digital Workshops and their relationship with learning styles”, where she related the experience developed in 2012 and 2013 in the “My Digital Workshop” project of the Ministry of Education, initiative that involved 60 educational establishments in the Coquimbo Region, with nearly 960 students from the 5th basic year to the 2nd intermediate year levels who learned from educational applications with digital resources such as: video games, comics, robotics, vVideo streaming and technological brigades. 

It should be noted that in the Coquimbo Region, the CHAEA Survey was applied online to this group of students (Honey Alonso Learning Styles Questionnaire) to obtain the result of learning style preferences and thus recognize the characteristics preponderant of young people for the development of activities in the teaching-learning process.

The VI World Congress of Learning Styles: New Applications and Areas of Intervention, is an initiative generated by teaching researchers from the National University of Distance Education of Spain, through the Faculty of Education, and that together with its program of Doctorate and networks in Europe and Latin America, have generated various research and educational innovation programs. 

Likewise, Dr. García has been invited to publish her presentation as an article in Education Magazine (http://revistas.pucp.edu.pe/educacion), which is indexed on the platforms QUALIS, Directory of Journals of the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI), BASE, CLASE, EbscoHost, Gale Cengage, JournalTOCs and Worldcat. Education Magazine aims to generate a periodic space for intellectual production through the publication of essays, research communications and book reviews.
