The meeting had the active participation of a large number of students and teachers of the Pedagogy in Music Education and Pedagogy in English careers at the University of La Serena.

At the Francisco de Aguirre Hotel in La Serena, the Ministry of Education recently held a Conference to Disseminate the New Standards for the Initial Training of Teachers of the Pedagogical Careers in Visual Arts, Special Education, Physical Education, English and Music .

The Conference was structured in two blocks, the first with students of Pedagogies and the second block with academics from the various areas in question. In both instances there was the active participation of a large number of students and academics of the Pedagogy in Music Education and Pedagogy in English careers at the University of La Serena, who informed and socialized with the other attendees about the new standards for the training of teachers in their respective areas.

The opportunity was also attended by Dr. Geraldo Brown González, executive director of the Institutional Improvement Plan for the Initial Teacher Training of the ULS (PMI-FIP-ULS), and the institutional coordinator of the Inicia Program, Mg. Sandra Álvarez Barahona. Also present were the teachers Berta San Martín and Verónica Toro, directors of the schools of Pedagogy in Humanities and Pedagogy in Music, respectively. These academics, together with the director, make up the Executive Team of the PMI-FIP-ULS, which has as one of its central tasks the Curricular Renewal of the Pedagogy Careers of the institution, for which the Guiding Standards that were presented in the day, along with those that are already published, are one of the fundamental references to conduct this process.

In addition to becoming familiar with the issue of standards, participants had the opportunity to learn about the Inicia Evaluation, a system created by the Ministry of Education with the objective of verifying the quality of Initial Teacher Training in each of the country's universities that dictate Teacher Training Programs. This evaluation will be applied again this year and voluntarily to the graduates of Pedagogies of the country, as reported by the speaker Cristian Sánchez, in charge of Initial Teacher Training of the CPEIP, who also held a meeting with the dean of the Faculty of Humanities of the ULS, Dr. María Zúñiga Carrasco, opportunity in which they analyzed the current state of Initial Teacher Training in our country.
