Pedagogy students and academics attend Seminar on Dissemination of Standards for Initial Teacher Training

At the Francisco de Aguirre Hotel in La Serena, the Ministry of Education recently held a Dissemination Day of the New Standards for the Initial Training of Teachers of Pedagogy Careers in Visual Arts, Special Education, Physical Education, English and Music .

The Conference was structured in two blocks, the first with Pedagogy students and the second block with academics from the various areas in question. In both instances, there was the active participation of a large number of students and academics from the Pedagogy in Musical Education and Pedagogy in English at the University of La Serena, who were informed and socialized with the other attendees about the new standards for the training of teachers in their respective areas.

On the occasion, Dr. Geraldo Brown González, executive director of the Institutional Improvement Plan for Initial Teacher Training of the ULS (PMI-FIP-ULS), and the institutional coordinator of the Inicia Program, Mg. Sandra Álvarez Barahona. Also present were professors Berta San Martín and Verónica Toro, directors of the schools of Pedagogy in Humanities and Pedagogy in Music respectively. In addition to becoming familiar with the subject of standards, participants had the opportunity to learn about the Initial Evaluation, a system created by the Ministry of Education with the objective of verifying the quality of Initial Teacher Training in each of the universities in the country that teach. This evaluation will be applied again this year and on a voluntary basis to the country's Pedagogy graduates, as reported by the speaker Cristian Sánchez, in charge of Initial Teacher Training at the CPEIP, who also held a meeting with the dean of the Faculty of Humanities from the ULS, Dr. María Zúñiga Carrasco, an opportunity in which they analyzed the current state of Initial Teacher Training in our country.
