A protocolary visit was made by the regional director of CORFO, Andrés Sánchez, to the Rector of the University of La Serena, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés, on which occasion, together with greeting the highest university authority as the new director of the organization, he also did as a former student of the ULS, where he studied the career of Agricultural Engineering.
During the meeting, held in units of the Central House of the ULS, Sanchez delivered his greeting and extended an invitation to the university to be part of the different lines of support that CORFO makes available to the community, through tools for promotion and the development of research in its different fields, innovation and productive development, among other areas.
"It is part of our management to invite higher education institutions to develop initiatives to find solutions and contribute to the knowledge of major issues in our region, including the water situation and the fight against drought, energy development and the food, from primary production to the generation of innovative processes that can be implemented in this macrozone. Promoting the development and innovation, "Sanchez said.
On the occasion, the Rector of the University of La Serena, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés, thanked the regional director of CORFO for his visit, expressing his willingness to establish the nexuses necessary to promote in the university community the different lines of support that the organization has .
Avilés also noted the importance for the ULS to strengthen the development of research and ties with institutions working in this field, because the University is the place where the generation of knowledge is developed and is part of the institutional mission.
