On the occasion, the president of the community emphasized that this is part of a joint work that began last December.

The president of the Association of Academics of the University of La Serena, Luis Palma, accompanied by the secretary of the same community Abraham Ledezma, met with the Rector Dr. Nibaldo Avilés, to present a document that, according to what they indicated, will strengthen the initiative that seeks to carry out in the medium term, a project that allows the hiring of contracted academics in the plant.

On the occasion, Luis Palma emphasized that “this is part of a joint work that began last December, and this document complements the information that we have been delivering to the Rector, and that responds to the fact that as an Association of Academics we seek that a number important number of academics from our institution and also members of our organization, can move to the plant, so that they have access to greater job stability, and which Rector Avilés has also been promoting.”

Palma added that “this project seeks to ensure quality teaching and generate conditions for the development of research, given that immediately after this process is carried out, renowned researchers should join our University, through a competition, to the extent "that new vacancies may occur due to the gradual retirement incentive process."

For his part, Rector Dr. Nibaldo Avilés emphasized that “this initiative has indeed been worked on for some months, including with the Association of Engineers, and constitutes recognition by the institution of the work carried out by many academics who for years have demonstrated their quality and commitment to the institution and that they are on contract, generating an opportunity for greater job security. The document received adds to the project we are developing and should give us greater legal support for its implementation.”
