The workshops held at the ULS have allowed students to experience the process of creating ceramics.

An enriching experience was experienced by fifteen students from the Manuel Rodríguez Special School of La Serena, who during the month of June had the opportunity to attend four work sessions at the Ceramics Center of the University of La Serena, which were charge of the academic of the state platel, Hernán Godoy.

The teacher of the Labor Workshop of said establishment, María Cáceres, explained that as a former student of the ULS Design program, she was able to arrange for the group of students to visit the workshop on Thursdays. “The idea is that within the framework of children's vocational development, they have the possibility of working with different materials. “This is how we created this space so that they could experience the process of creating ceramics,” said the teacher.

In addition, the professional indicated that the students have been very grateful for being able to have a learning experience outside the classroom, adding that working with clay relaxes them and also allows them to develop artistic creativity.

Meanwhile, for ULS academic Hernán Godoy, the workshops have helped students connect with this branch of the arts. “They are very receptive and were motivated to continue in this,” said the Design major teacher, who expressed that the idea is that during the second semester they can continue with the initiative and this time work on the process of preparing the clay.

Godoy also pointed out that the Ceramic Center of the University of La Serena extends the invitation throughout the year to different municipal establishments in the area so that they can learn about the process of working with ceramics and visit emblematic spaces of the institution such as the University Bicentennial Clock.
