credeuls reunion

History, identity, culture and education are the elements that will make up this great event for the whole family.

Stories and audiovisual samples about the history of Las Compañías, artistic presentations from kindergartens, schools and high schools, various workshops and much more will bring together the First Cultural Meeting of Las Compañías, organized by the Education and Culture Board of the sector, promoted by the Center Regional Studies and Development of Education of the University of La Serena (CREDEULS).

This event will take place in the month of September, at the intersection of Esmeralda and Monjitas streets. To this end, the different commissions that coordinate the presentations, exhibitions, talks, workshops and stands that will give life to the activity, aimed at children, young people, adults and seniors, have been working for a few weeks.

In a new coordination meeting of the Table, held at the Mistralian Center of the ULS, the progress of the commissions regarding this event was discussed, which is part of the project 'Educational climate of the home and family expectations: network articulation for expansion of the cultural and educational interests of students from the Las Compañías, La Serena sector, executed by CREDEULS and financed by the Carmen Goudie Foundation.

As Angélica Trujillo, representative of the Arturo Prat School and in charge of putting together the grid of artistic acts for the day, explains, the reception from the schools has been very good. Specifically, she has worked with the Alonso de Ercilla, Villa San Bartolomé establishments and with the schoolchildren of her establishment, who will provide dance, choir and band performances, to which will be added the performances of the dance groups of parents of these schools. . Trujillo highlights the enthusiasm shown by the children who will participate in the numbers, who are already creating their presentations.

The representative of the Arturo Prat School adds that they will also be joined by different academics from the University of La Serena, who will offer artistic workshops on the stage and also in the surrounding area, thus completing a program that will last throughout the day.

Regarding the holding of this event for the first time in Las Compañías, he mentions that it is very positive, due to the opportunity to make the sector known as a protagonist and not only “as a part of La Serena. We are going to have our Cultural Meeting, to spread it to other people, in Coquimbo, La Serena, so that people from the Valley come to learn about our culture.”

Likewise, the history and culture commissions are also preparing their programs for the event, in which all schools and high schools in Las Compañías, as well as kindergartens, will participate.

Regarding the progress of the work of the Education and Culture Board, the director of CREDEULS and academic of the Department of Psychology of the ULS, Dr. María Teresa Juliá, highlights the strength with which the parents are working, which generates a very high commitment , where there will also be collaboration of Pedagogy and Psychology students.

Dr. Juliá remembers the successful experience previously achieved with the celebration of the Three Kings Festival in the sector, which was prepared by a much smaller group of people, so “I believe that now it will be much richer, because It is the mothers themselves who are organizing it, so that makes much more sense to me than for us to do it from the University, for them to be the ones planning and with very good ideas. We have to give support and support to that, the contacts and resources within the project.”

The director of CREDEULS points out that the most characteristic of the I Cultural Meeting will be “the rescue of local history, because today we saw how this is very well structured and there are many resources that are going to support it and that will have to do with the identity of the location".

Likewise, the academic from the University of La Serena predicts that the artistic component of the event will also be of a high level, both due to the enthusiasm of its manager and the quality and commitment of the artistic cultivators of Las Compañías. “I feel very enriched, because I realize that there is a thriving culture here. Everything is happening, what is happening is that they are not very well articulated, people live in different sectors and little is known in La Serena about the emergence of potential for artistic-cultural innovation that exists here,” she added.

The ULS academic values the presence given to the university and the Mistralian Center in the community with these activities, because “the fact that we are here and that people are so enthusiastic is also a way of bringing the University closer to the community. And it is a super powerful meeting, because one comes to learn here, not to teach. People have a lot to offer.”
