Present at the meeting were the Rector, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés, the Minister of Economy, Miguel Sánchez, the Minister of Education, Pedro Esparza, the manager of the Regional Productive Development Corporation, Cristián Sáez, among other authorities and representatives of the public sector. and private.

Headed by the Seremi of Economy of the Coquimbo Region, Miguel Sánchez, the Regional Directorate of Human Capital met, a body that, under the aegis of the Regional Corporation for Productive Development, seeks to install a public-private institutional framework that proposes guidelines to address the problems of Human Capital in the region.

In this context, the Minister of Economy thanked the committed participation of the Rector of the University of La Serena, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés, highlighting that “it is very important for this Board of Directors to have the presence of the Rector, since it means being present in this table to the most important University in the region.”

Likewise, Dr. Avilés expressed the value of participating in this initiative, pointing out that “it is very significant that from this directory, which brings together all the actors involved in the matter, we manage to develop an effective articulation process between the public sector and private, a union that allows us to generate a human capital policy in the region that responds to the real requirements of society."

human capital directory 2In this sense, the economics minister highlighted that "the idea is to methodologically search for a way that allows, from this commission, to generate an agenda of concrete actions for the development of human capital."

Within the framework of the session, the 2014 action plan was presented, the progress status of the program “Regional capacity transfer plan in innovation methodologies and project management”, financed by CORFO, the presentation of the baseline study “ Study of Gaps between the Supply and Demand of Human Capital that allows generating strategic planning for 2010, Coquimbo Region”, projects in development, pilots and proposals, among others.

It should be noted that within the framework of this initiative in 2014, work will be done to generate and manage updated information regarding the labor market and regional human capital, in addition to supporting the improvement of productivity, promoting the availability of specialized human capital at different levels ( trades, technical-professional), promote the permanent link between the education sector and the productive sector, promote innovation, transfer and entrepreneurship as a relevant factor in training and territorial economic development.

On the occasion, within the projects under development, the initiative to link the Regional Productive Development Corporation with the University of La Serena was highlighted, which aims to support information management and linkage with the productive sector for the implementation project. of the Regional State Technical Training Center promoted by President Bachelet in the region.
