Rector of the ULS is appointed as a jury for the 2014 National Musical Arts Award

In 2012, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés was part of the jury that decided the last National Prize for Musical Arts.

For the second consecutive time, the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH), appointed the Rector of the University of La Serena, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés Pizarro, as its representative to integrate the jury that will determine the National Prize for Musical Arts corresponding to the year 2014.

The highest university authority will be part of this instance, which is presented every two years, together with the Minister of Education, the rector of the University of Chile, the last recipient of this award and a representative of the Chilean Academy of Fine Arts.

The Rector of the University of La Serena, along with thanking the Council of Rectors for this significant designation, pointed out that it is a “true pride to be part of the jury again that must define this important recognition that is granted to the most outstanding musicians in our country. . This fact constitutes recognition of the prestige that the University of La Serena has at the national level in the musical field.”

Let us remember that in 2012, Dr. Avilés was part of the jury that discerned the last National Prize for Musical Arts, an award that finally went to the director Juan Pablo Izquierdo.

National Musical Arts Award

The National Musical Arts Award of Chile was created in 1992 (Law No. 19.169) and is awarded to the person who has distinguished themselves for their achievements in the respective area of ​​the arts. This distinction is part of the National Awards of Chile, awarded every two years and intended to recognize the work of Chileans who, for their excellence, creativity, transcendent contribution to national culture and the development of said fields and areas of knowledge and the arts. , become creditors of these awards. The award was created as a reorganization of the National Art Prize, which was awarded annually between 1944-1992 and alternated the mention between painting or sculpture, music and theater.
