This Thursday, July 24, the jury that will determine the 2014 National Prize for Musical Arts was formed, which includes the Rector of the University of La Serena, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés Pizarro, representing the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities, CRUCH. .

The Musical Arts jury was made up of the Minister of Education, Nicolás Eyzaguirre; the Rector of the ULS, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés Pizarro; the Rector of the University of Chile, Ennio Vivaldi; and the concert pianist Elisa Angulo, representative of the Chilean Academy of Fine Arts of the Chile Institute. This jury will be chaired by the Minister of Education and Rector Avilés will act as secretary. He excused his participation in the jury, the last winner of this Prize, the director Juan Pablo Izquierdo, because he was outside the country.

This is the second time that the highest authority of the ULS is a member of the jury of the National Musical Arts Award, after being part of this instance in 2012.

It should be remembered that this distinction is part of the National Awards of Chile, awarded every two years and intended to recognize the work of Chileans who, for their excellence, creativity, transcendent contribution to national culture and the development of said fields and areas of knowledge. and the arts, become creditors of these awards. The award was created as a reorganization of the National Art Prize, which was awarded annually between 1944-1992 and alternated the mention between painting or sculpture, music and theater.
