Successfully develops “Health Fair Expo” organized by Nursing students

The activity took place in the Plaza San Francisco de La Serena and brought together Nursing students from Chile and abroad.

With significant attendance and interest from the public, the “Health Fair Expo” took place last Saturday, July 26, organized by students of the Nursing program at the University of La Serena, within the framework of the program of activities of the XXII National Research Conference and the IX International Congress of Nursing Students, meetings convened by the National Federation of Nursing Students of Chile (FENEECh).

In the activity, universities from all over the country were presented, whose Nursing students, in a creative, attractive and didactic way, managed to develop different themes aimed at making visible recommendations and care to improve people's quality of life. 

The fair was attended by students from the universities of Antofagasta, Santo Tomás (Antofagasta headquarters), Andrés Bello (Viña del Mar and Santiago campuses), Valparaíso, Mayor (Santiago headquarters), USACH, U. de Chile, Católica del Maule, de la Frontera, Católica de la Santísima Concepción, de Concepción, del Desarrollo, Austral de Chile, U. de Tolima (Colombia) and the University of La Serena.

Among the topics addressed were: “Home Garden,” “Adolescent Protectors,” “Care of the Elderly,” “Child Care,” “Responsible Sexuality,” “Successful Aging,” “High Blood Pressure,” “Prostate Cancer.” , “Newborn Care and Development”, “Healthy Eating”, “Breast Cancer”, “Diabetes Mellitus II”, “Job Satisfaction in Health Professionals”, among other topics.

health fair 3Within the framework of the activity, the coordinator of the “Health Fair Expo” and ULS Nursing student, Débora Torrejón, pointed out that “attendance has been quite important and we appreciate the response of the universities. This activity has a profound impact on us and has served as a stimulus for health students in the area of ​​teaching people the importance of self-care.” 

It should be noted that at its inauguration, the “Health Fair Expo” was visited by the Rector of the University of La Serena, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés, the dean of the Faculty of Sciences, Dr. Gustavo Labbé, and the director of the School of Nursing, Pilar Bonilla.

“This is an activity that makes us proud as a University and that allows us to successfully conclude these XXII National Research Conferences and the IX International Congress of Nursing Students, meetings held at our University and in which our students played an important role as organizers. demonstrating that they are capable of generating creative and high-level activities, linking our institution with the community,” emphasized the Rector of the ULS, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés.

For his part, the Dean of Sciences, Dr. Gustavo Labbé, indicated that “this type of activities is where camaraderie is strengthened, which is super important for everyone, especially for those who will later find themselves in the Health Centers. I hope this collaborative work competition is never lost, to advance in a society where teamwork is valued and not individualism.”
