The Journalism degree at the University of La Serena is accredited for 5 years

The certification runs from August 2014 to August 2019.

The Journalism degree, attached to the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences of the University of La Serena, received five years of accreditation according to what was reported by the Accreditation Agency AcreditAcción, in its first presentation to this certification process.

The Evaluation and Accreditation Council of the Agency's Social Sciences Area reported that this accreditation period runs from August 2014 to August 2019.

Regarding the five years of accreditation, the director of the School of Journalism, Dr. Arlyn Orellana, expressed her satisfaction with the recognition of the work carried out. “We are very happy and proud of the work that was done. It was a team effort, of all those involved in this career," said the academic, who thanked the collaboration and commitment of students, professors, graduates and graduates and the employers of journalists at the University, "since it has been “demonstrated the quality and academic excellence of this degree.” 

It is worth remembering that the ULS Journalism program received a visit from the Committee of Peer Evaluators in the month of May, which was made up of Cristian Antoine Faúndez (U. of Santiago de Chile), Ximena Póo Figueroa (U. of Chile ) and Claudio Elórtegui Gómez (Pontificia U Católica de Valparaíso).

On the occasion, the members of the Committee met with university authorities, directors, FACSE authorities, Department and School directors, Self-Evaluation Committee, Career Council, academics, students, graduates and employers. They also made visits to facilities of the institution and the aforementioned undergraduate program.
