In the coming days, the fourth-year student of the Pedagogy in English degree at the University of La Serena, Cristóbal Tabilo González, will arrive in Australia to begin his further training at the Queensland University, thanks to the Semester Abroad Scholarship awarded by the English Open Doors Program, within the framework of the CHILE SCHOLARSHIP System.

The ULS student will remain at this prestigious foreign institution until December, attending various general English and methodology courses. “At the time of entering the program, I knew I wanted to get this scholarship, I had heard so much about this benefit (…). If one studies English, it is essential to live this experience and then share it with teachers in training and students,” commented Cristóbal, who added that to achieve this achievement there must be a good disposition and a lot of desire.  

“It is a long-term goal achieved. Generally, in life one sets short-term goals and fulfills them (...). I spent four years studying and waiting for this and for the result of such a long work to arrive, it means a lot, it fulfills you a lot," said the student, who highlighted the training provided in his career, an opinion similar to that of scholarship recipients from previous years who They shared with him their experiences in oceanic lands, highlighting the preparation received in this study house.

Semester Abroad Scholarship

Cristóbal joins a long list of students of Pedagogy in English at the ULS who have obtained this scholarship, aimed at students from accredited universities and who are studying the penultimate or final year of this degree or at least the seventh semester to those applicants whose study plans have a duration of 9 (nine) semesters.

This scholarship serves to complement the general training of students studying Pedagogy in English through their improvement in educational institutions whose study programs have high international recognition and are taught in the English language. In addition, they have the possibility of understanding the international dimension of teacher training, getting to know different realities and educational systems, along with strengthening the teaching of the English language and institutionalizing exchange and international mobility systems in the career.
