With the presence of regional authorities, representatives of the private sector, teachers and students of the establishment, the opening ceremony of the "Tunnel Fortification Workshop" course was held for students of the Jorge Alessandri Rodríguez High School in La Serena.

The program was born as a result of a public-private alliance, aimed at strengthening the capabilities of technicians, as a way to contribute to the growth of the region and the country. That is why, based on the initiative of the Seremi de Minería, CAP Minería provided the resources for the execution of the workshop developed at the El Brillador Mine School of the University of La Serena, an emblematic and unique facility in Latin America, which has been consolidated as a space for training, providing added value to the mining activity in the Coquimbo Region. 

On the occasion, the Minister of Mining of the Coquimbo Region, Yanko Loyola, reaffirmed the line of action proposed by President Michelle Bachelet, aimed at working with people to reduce inequality gaps.

For his part, Renzo Cermenatti, Head of Training and Organizational Development at CAP Minería, referred to the needs that companies have today and highlighted the opportunity it represents for the students of the Liceo Jorge Alessandri Rodríguez, to acquire new tools and skills that contribute to their development and that of their family groups. "I want to thank the possibility of participating in this process that incorporates them into the world of work," said the executive to the 47 students and their specialty teachers. "I hope that These initiatives and these projects that we are generating do not end, since in this way we form human capital that contributes to the world and to the country”, concluded Cermenatti.

shiner mine 2Along with directly participating in the training, the director of the ULS Mining Engineering Department, Dr. Ing. Alfonso Carvajal, highlighted in his words the origin of the El Brillador School Mine project, which in 1800 was the main copper export center from the country. In recent years, thanks to a CORFO project, it was possible to restore and implement the facilities and subsequently improve the equipment that today allows training professionals from all areas in the Reference Center for Experimentation and Training in Mining - Metallurgical Processes, El Brillador Mine School of the University of La Serena.

The academic secretary of the Faculty of Engineering, Mg. Jorge Pizarro; the Mineduc Professional Technical Secondary Education coordinator, Héctor Hernández; and the director of the Jorge Alessandri High School, Carlos Barahona, who highlighted the importance of continuing on this path, and thanked everyone who took part in this workshop.
