Nurses are trained in the quality of primary health care

The day took place in the Hexágono room of the state educational institution.

With the welcome greeting from the Vice-Rector of the ULS, Dr. Alejandra Torrejón -representing the Rector, Dr. Luperfina Rojas-, the Third Training Day "Management of patient safety and quality in care" began. primary health course", organized by the Gabriel González Videla Municipal Corporation of La Serena and the APS La Serena Nurses Chapter, with the support of the state educational institution.

The objective of the training and exchange of knowledge was to provide nurses in the health area with knowledge and skills about quality, continuous improvement and security of care in health services, which positively impact the organizational culture of the centers. health in which they perform and, therefore, in the users.

Almost a hundred professionals and students gathered around topics such as Leadership and empowerment in nursing Chile's quality and health safety management system and Health Accreditation of open care establishments, among others.

On the occasion, the Academic Vice-Rector, Dr. Alejandra Torrejón, stated that “it is an honor for the institution to be able to support them through the outstanding Department of Nursing, attached to the Faculty of Sciences, generating a collaboration between the Chapter and the University that, Within its work, it has the fundamental task of linking with the environment to enrich our knowledge and improve professional practice.”

Likewise, the president of the Honorable Board of Directors of the ULS, Ernesto Velasco, stated that “at this University we not only deliver knowledge, but we also offer spaces to relate, grow, and train. Nurses are a fundamental part of the public care network, therefore, this meeting is vital for many greater professional challenges to come.”

Likewise, Velasco highlighted that the ULS is actively working on the creation of the Medicine degree, so that together with the offer that already exists, a future Faculty of Health is formed in accordance with the need to prepare a greater number of professionals who will give coverage of regional demands.  

The activity included among its presentations, the exhibition "Patient Safety in Sterilization Centers", by the Mg. Lídice Zuleta, Director(s) ULS Nursing Department.
