AES PACE ULS seminar addressed individual support

This instance was in charge of the institutional Access to Higher Education Program (PACE).

The Support Component in Higher Education (AES) of the Access to Higher Education Program (PACE), which is part of the OAME ULS, held the Seminar: “Transforming the Student Experience through a look at Individual Support”.

The AES PACE ULS team of the Student Support and Monitoring Office, generated this space with the aim of promoting a space for inter-institutional collaboration to present, analyze and share innovative implementation practices of the Individual Support Plans (PAI) by the AES teams. PACE belonging to various Higher Education Institutions, with the purpose of strengthening the quality of student support in a collaborative manner.

Regarding this premise, Javiera Contreras, AES PACE ULS coordinator, stated: “Year after year, MINEDUC presents us with new challenges, and this has not been the exception. We met to delve into the diverse perspectives offered by universities, each contributing its unique vision and experience in the design and application of individual support plans for students in higher education. This is why, throughout this day, we learned about strategies, best practices and challenges that as institutions they have faced and overcome in their commitment to providing personalized support to each student.”

In addition, the instance sought to present and analyze the new implementation practices for the Individual Accompaniment Plans (PAI) of AES-PACE teams from different HEIs, and in this way to jointly strengthen the quality of student accompaniment in the AES component. through inter-institutional linkage. In this context, Mg. Loreto Garrido, PACE ULS technical coordinator, expressed: “an event that reflects the commitment of our universities to strengthening student support and the link between our institutions. I especially want to thank the AES team for organizing this significant meeting, which brings together educational institutions from all over the country with a common goal: to improve our work for our student communities.”

It should be noted that in addition to ULS, professional speakers from the University of Tarapacá, represented by Andrea Cifuentes Barría and Eduardo Bravo Lange, were also part of this meeting; and from the University of La Frontera, led by Verónica Langer Cuminao and Ángela Ibarra Correa, in charge of the evaluation and monitoring unit of the Training Path Directorate, who expressed their opinion about their participation in the meeting: “it was very interesting, since which is the first time to be able to talk about the implementation of the individual support program. It is enriching to be able to share experiences, moments, difficulties, the same results and the same questions. I leave with many learnings and to continue promoting the PACE program at the national level.”   

The PACE ULS program was represented by María José Soto, psychologist, and Camila Arias Conti, AES PACE ULS Mathematics area mentor, who were in charge of presenting the work carried out by the psychoeducational and academic teams of the AES PACE ULS component, developing a synthesis on the tasks, perspectives and also the challenges involved in continuing with the implementation of the PAI, for the coming years.

And, to conclude, the professional from Santa María University, Daniela Gallardo, professor of Differential Education, AES PACE USM, expressed: “I found it very interesting to know the perspectives of other institutions and colleagues, I think we share many similar appreciations about the PAI and we realize that we are on the right path, regardless of whether we are working in different universities.”
