The meeting directed by Benito Umaña H., Alternate President of the Group of Regional Universities, featured presentations by Yolanda Zúñiga from UdeC and Jaime Jamett from UV, coordinators of the AUR Health Commission, who addressed the current situation of teacher training and clinical fields.

The AUR Health Commission coordinates and represents the activities of undergraduate, graduate and specialties in health sciences that are taught in regional universities from Arica and Parinacota to Punta Arenas. Their regional representativeness is valued by government authorities and parliament, therefore, they are frequently invited to share diagnoses, analyzes and proposals on topics relevant to public health policies.

This was evident in the plenary session of the rectors of the regional universities, where the coordinators of this Commission made a summary of the current situation of teacher training and clinical fields in the regions. Robust dialogue, carried out in the wake of a new regulation for the sector that, according to the speakers, has shortcomings already noted by the regional universities and which were reflected in a document with indications to the law on teaching care establishments and points out the characteristics of the relationship between the health network and Higher Education Institutions. Material recently delivered to the Senate Health Commission, to be incorporated into the current discussion.

The meeting table of the university authorities also reached agreements on what will be the Group's agenda to end this year. Activities among which the Hilario Hernández Distinction stands out, which will have a new version in 2024, and which among its novelties expands the number of winners to all regional universities, in its Academic Area, Social Political Area and Communications, Art and Culture Area categories.

December being a complex month for the end of the year, AUR will similarly maintain an intense work plan. During this period, a meeting of the Labor Inclusion Commission stands out, where the progress of the regional schools on the subject will be addressed. Added to this is a new Protocol and Ceremonial Course in the city of Concepción, on December 15, organized by the University of Biobío, the Parliamentary Academy and AUR. Likewise, and consequently with their mission of linking with the environment, AUR universities will continue to carry out analysis and dissemination activities of the constitutional process.

Plenary session of the rectors of the Regional Universities, took place on November 29 at the Central House of the University of Talca, a regional campus that hosted all the meetings of rectors in the capital of the Region of the Maule.
