Faculty of Sciences graduated 251 new professionals in their careers

During the ceremonies, recognitions were presented to the outstanding graduates of this new class of professionals.

A total of 251 new professionals graduated this year from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of La Serena, who received their titles and degrees in two solemn and emotional ceremonies held in the Aula Magna Ignacio Domeyko.

During the degree day, the professionals received their diplomas from the courses of Pedagogy in Biology and Natural Sciences, Pedagogy in Mathematics and Computing, Pedagogy in Mathematics and Physics, Pedagogy in Chemistry and Sciences. Natural Sciences, Bachelor's Degree in Astronomy, Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Agronomic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Laboratory Chemist, Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Nursing, Dentistry and Kinesiology.

The Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, Dr. Luis Palma, in his speech, noted that “throughout their university career, they have experienced a learning journey that goes beyond classrooms and books. The experiences shared with his classmates and the support received from his teachers have left an indelible mark on his training. I am confident that they have built meaningful relationships that will last over time and those connections will be valuable both professionally and personally.”

Along with this, he added that “this achievement is not only theirs, but also a desire achieved for their families. The effort and support of those around them have been integral to their success and this title is a testament to their shared dedication in the pursuit of knowledge and excellence.”

Awards

As is tradition, the institution presented the University of La Serena award, which this year went to the graduate of the Pedagogy degree in Mathematics and Physics, Valeria Rivera, who received the distinction from the Vice-rector for Economic and Administrative Affairs, Dr. Héctor Cuevas, representing the Rector, Dr. Luperfina Rojas. This award has been established by the Rector's Office with the aim of providing adequate and timely recognition to student dedication and performance.

For its part, the Faculty of Sciences award, awarded to graduates who completed the study plan within a period of no more than two semesters than stipulated in the program decree and with the highest weighted average of the promotion, They obtained it from Valeria Rivera, from Ped. in Mathematics and Physics; Constanza Ángel, Chemistry; Daniel Villalobos, Bachelor of Astronomy; Diego Chinga, with a degree in Physics; Lucía Ramírez, with a degree in Chemistry; Paula Bertolla, Agronomic Engineer; María Fernanda Álvarez, from Nursing; Denisse González, from Kinesiology, and Erik Flores, from Dentistry.

At the end of the delivery of diplomas in the first of the ceremonies, the qualified professional of Ped. in Mathematics and Physics, Hans Opazo, delivered a few words to all those present, representing the graduates of the ULS Faculty of Sciences, an opportunity in which he indicated that “on this journey that we undertake, it is impossible not to reflect on the fundamental role that our beloved teachers have played, they have been the guides that have illuminated us on our educational path. They have shared with us not only their knowledge, but also their passion for learning to grow.”

While in the second ceremony, the graduate of the Kinesiology degree, Natalia Cuello, was the one who delivered words, an occasion where she indicated: “today by receiving this title, I not only represent my individual efforts, but also those of each one of us. who has dedicated countless years, days and hours of study to reach this celebration. May this diploma not be just a cardboard hanging on the wall, may it be a precious symbol of our perseverance, dedication and resilience.”

It is worth mentioning that these graduation and degree ceremonies were attended by university authorities, directors, academics, family members and friends of this new promotion of professionals.
