As a result of an agreement with the Ministry of Energy, 19 universities with a presence in all regions of the country participate in the entity.

With the objective of generating instances of collaboration, research and development in energy matters, the Undersecretariat of Energy signed an agreement with a group of 22 institutions to promote innovative solutions that allow integrating, in a decentralized manner, the renewable energy and the emerging industry green hydrogen.

Specifically, an official launch seminar of the National Center for Advanced Decentralized Energy Solutions (SEDA) was held, presenting its main objectives, the executive work team, its initial organization and its short and medium-term activities.

The activity, carried out in Building 14K of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences of the Universidad Austral de Chile in Valdivia, was headed by the undersecretary of Energy, Luis Felipe Ramos, together with academic and regional authorities.

The initiative, which has an investment of 250 million pesos, entails the creation of the National Center for Advanced Decentralized Energy Solutions (SEDA), made up of a group of actors from the sector Energy headed by the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (FCFM) of the University of Chile, in which 19 universities, research institutions and the private sector will participate, allowing representation in the 16 regions of the country, with multidisciplinary work teams , with an equal spirit and with a gender focus, whose objective is to deploy collaborative and joint work.

Currently, the team is made up of 46 people, representatives of 22 institutions, of which 19 are universities (representatives of the different regions of our country), one is a research institution (Fraunhofer Chile), an academic park (Parque Carén from the University of Chile) and a company (EBP Chile).

For the Undersecretary of Energy, Luis Felipe Ramos, this initiative "makes us very happy, because it is in line with what we as the Ministry of Energy we propose in the Agenda Energy 2022-2026, built through a participatory process, and which poses the challenge of converting the Energy in the engine of vigorous economic growth and a new development model for our country. In this context, innovation as a fundamental tool to achieve the fair energy transition constitutes a key aspect to achieve the objectives imposed by the Agenda."

The authority added that, "our role here is to be able to provide the facilities to strengthen innovation in the sector, with priority in the production and use of green hydrogen, the promotion of electromobility in all transport and charging systems, and the deepening of energy efficiency. We have great hope that this agreement will guide us on that path and will allow all regions of Chile to contribute to this development."

It should be noted that the agreement was signed by the Undersecretariat of Energy, Universidad de Magallanes, Universidad de Aysén, Universidad de Los Lagos, Universidad Austral de Chile, Universidad de La Frontera, Universidad de Concepción, Universidad del Biobío, Universidad de Talca, Universidad de O'Higgins, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, University of Chile, Federico Santa Maria Technical University, University of La Serena, University of Atacama, University of Antofagasta, Universidad Católica del Norte, Universidad Arturo Prat, Universidad de Tarapacá, Fraunhöfer Foundation, Parque Carén Foundation and EBP Chile.
