This new model seeks to generate innovative learning, in accordance with research and creation, in which both the role of the teacher and the student is fundamental to achieving the results of the training process.

In an initiative aimed at strengthening pedagogical practices and educational quality, professionals from the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso (PUCV), Maura Amaranti and Héctor Vargas, taught the workshop "Evaluation from a competency-oriented model." The event took place last January 09 and 10 and different academics from the Faculty of Engineering participated who were interested in delving deeper into this new evaluation method.

During these two days, the exhibitors carried out practical dynamics, discussions and case analyzes with the academics, which enriched the learning experience and facilitated the application of theoretical concepts in real classroom situations.

According to Maura Amaranti, they have been working on this model for some time with a group of students from the PUCV Faculty of Engineering and that “it has been applied in other areas such as pedagogy and architecture, in which we have made some evaluations.” and we have published some results that support this application of this model.”

Along the same lines, Héctor Vargas comments that “students greatly value that you very precisely indicate what things are evaluated, how it is done and speak to them from the skills they are acquiring as they are studying; "Not just the grade or the approval of the field, but there is a significance behind it that is linked to the graduation profiles of each one."

Waldo Valencia, academic from the Department of Mining Engineering, mentioned that having participated in this workshop was of vital importance because “it allows us to have a tool that serves to improve our learning results, which will allow us a better vision before peer evaluators.”

For his part, Rodrigo Guerra, academic at the Department of Civil Works Engineering, stated that “this workshop comes to help us in the most pedagogical part, we are engineers and not pedagogues; and in some way it is for the benefit of our students and subjects since it covers everything from the way we grade, feedback to the grading processes and improving the standards around this.”

This workshop was thanks to the management of the FIULS 2030 project, through the Human Capital axis.
