Academics and officials who took voluntary retirement were honored in an emotional ceremony

Thirty officials, academics, and academics took advantage of Law No. 21.043 and 20.996, which allows voluntary retirement from State universities.

In a ceremony that brought together directors, officials, colleagues and family members, the University of La Serena awarded a distinction as a farewell to the officials and academics retired through the voluntary retirement incentive laws. current

These are Alejandro Abufom Heresi, César Aguilera Fernández, Graciela Alfaro Alfaro, Laura Aracena Concha, Fernando Astudillo Santibáñez, Gipsy Barrera Infante, Edgardo Carabantes Olivares, José Castillo Acevedo, Oscar Contreras González, Emérita Guerra Rivera, Alberto Dentice Bacigalupe, Alfredo Díaz González , Luis Díaz Zamora and José Fernández Labra.

Along with them, Pedro Galleguillos Pastenes, Lidia Garay Mancilla, Patricia Herrera Bolados, Verónica Huerta Romero, Silvia López Hopp, Elizabeth Montiel Rodríguez, José Muñoz Villalobos, Mario Pinto Cortés, Paola Pizarro Jiliberto, Patricia Plaza Salinas, Carolina Ponce Arias were distinguished , Rubén Ponce Durán, Nancy Ramos Mundaca, Ketty Salas Bravo, Luis Trigo Rojas and María Zúñiga Carrasco.

“In this special moment, as the University of La Serena we are tremendously grateful for the work carried out. I believe that all the service they have done in our institution is fundamental, since they have contributed enormously to its development; We wish you the greatest happiness and success in this new stage of your life that is about to begin,” said the Rector, Dr. Luperfina Rojas. 

Regarding this recognition, Gypsi Barrera, an official at the Department of Health for 12 years, expressed her gratitude for this distinction and added that “for me it is very pleasant to receive this recognition from the university and I am very happy to have completed this beautiful stage.”

For his part, Edgardo Carabantes, an academic who worked for 23 years at the ULS, highlighted that “it was very nice to meet again with people with whom I worked during my years at the university in this ceremony, especially at the time that I took charge of the axis of training in human rights. I did my undergraduate and graduate studies at the university, so a large part of my career was done here, where the best memory that I took with me is my relationship with my students and my years taking classes, being one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. career at the university, so I am very grateful for this recognition.”
