Students from the entire region will participate in the XXII Chilean Chemistry Olympics

The first activity of this event, supported by the University of La Serena in the area, will take place this Saturday, September 06, starting at 10:00 hrs.

This Saturday, September 06, starting at 10:00 a.m., the XXII Chilean Chemistry Olympiad begins at the national level, an activity that will feature in the Coquimbo Region with the participation of 327 students studying 2do, 3ero and 4to year of High School, in 32 educational establishments in the communes of Illapel, Salamanca, Ovalle, Coquimbo and La Serena. 

The program contemplates that students from La Serena and Coquimbo establishments take their first test at the Chemistry Department of the University of La Serena, located on the Andrés Bello Campus. 

Meanwhile, students who are part of the establishments of the Province of Limarí will take the test at the facilities of the Department of Agronomy of the ULS, located on the Limarí Campus; while students from the Province of Choapa will take the exam at the Liceo Domingo Ortíz de Rozas in the commune of Illapel.

Likewise, the second qualifying test will be held on Saturday, October 04 in the Coquimbo Region, to also be held in the ULS Chemistry Department. The 20 best students in each category (2do, 3ero and 4to year of Secondary Education).

The final stage at the national level of the XXII Chemistry Olympiad is set for November 06 (experimental theoretical test) and November 08 (award ceremony).

The XXII Chilean Chemistry Olympiad is organized by the University of Santiago de Chile and is part of a program of the Chemical Education Division of the Chilean Society, developed to encourage high school students from all over the country to study this important discipline, with the purpose of recognizing and guiding the talented, and also, motivating and supporting teachers in the application of more and better teaching strategies.

It should be noted that, at the regional level, this event is chaired by the academic from the Department of Chemistry of the ULS, Abraham Ledezma.
