The XXII Chilean Chemistry Olympiad began with an important participation of students

The activity, which was attended by the Rector of the ULS, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés, took place in the Andrés Bello Campus of the higher education institution, an institution that supports the organization of this event in the Coquimbo Region.

Punctually at 10:00 a.m., as scheduled, hundreds of students from different establishments in the Coquimbo Region arrived at the centers established in the cities of La Serena, Ovalle and Illapel, to take the first qualifying test in the framework of the XXII Chilean Chemistry Olympiad.

The activity, which in the Coquimbo Region is supported by the Department of Chemistry of the University of La Serena and coordinated by academic Abraham Ledezma, brought together more than 300 students who are currently studying 2do, 3ero and 4to year of Secondary Education in 32 educational establishments in the communes of Illapel, Salamanca, Ovalle, Coquimbo and La Serena. 

chemistry olympics 2Within the framework of this event, the students from La Serena and Coquimbo who took their exam at the Andrés Bello Campus of the University of La Serena, received a visit from the Rector of the house of higher education, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés, who at the opportunity expressed his satisfaction with the significant participation of students, which he noted demonstrates the growing interest in participating and representing their schools in this type of activity. “I am very happy to see the motivation that young people have to join these types of events, which as an institution allow us to connect with the students and their professors, many of them graduates of our University whose work makes us proud, given that they are the main precursors of the motivation that these students are showing to participate in this Olympiad,” he expressed.

It should be noted that the second qualifying test will be held on Saturday, October 04 in the Coquimbo Region, to also be held in the ULS Chemistry Department. The 20 best students in each category will participate in this test (2do, 3ero and 4to year of Secondary Education).
