Rector meets with the person in charge of the Mineduc for the project of implementation of state CFT

The purpose of the appointment was to schedule the constitution of the public-private board that will work on the creation of the regional state CFT of the University of La Serena. 

In dependencies of the Central House, a meeting was held between the Rector of the University of La Serena, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés, the person in charge of the Ministry of Education for the implementation project of 15 State Technical Training Centers throughout the country, José Cárdenas , and the director of Institutional Studies and Planning of the ULS, Mg. César Espíndola, whose purpose was to program the constitution of the public-private board that will work on the creation of the regional state CFT of the University of La Serena. 

This public-private instance, framed in a supreme decree signed by President Michelle Bachelet, has as its main objective to define the place where the CFT will be located and the courses that will be taught. This table, made up of fifteen people, will be chaired by the mayor of the Coquimbo Region, Hanne Utreras, and will be made up of the Rector of the ULS, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés, regional authorities and representatives of the public and private sectors. 

According to what José Cárdenas expressed, in this definition the participation of the different regional actors is fundamental, establishing strategic alliances in order to make this project sustainable. In this sense, the highest university authority indicated that the institution is working on the formulation of the project and that in this framework a series of meetings have been held with various authorities and social actors in order to respond to the high quality standards required. the implementation of the free CFT. 

In addition, during the meeting it was pointed out that the ceremony for the constitution of the public-private board should take place in the coming weeks, as has happened in other universities in the country. 

It should be remembered that the University of La Serena was chosen by the Government, together with four other houses of higher education in the country, to be in charge of one of the five new State Technical Training Centers that will be created in the regions of Coquimbo, Antofagasta, Valparaiso, Maule and Magallanes. 

On June 4, President Michelle Bachelet signed the agreements for the creation of the five new state CFTs, ​​under the auspices of the universities of La Serena, Antofagasta, Playa Ancha, Talca and Magallanes, a ceremony held at the University of Talca. and the one in which the Rector, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés, was present. A day later, the first work table was set up between the University of La Serena and the Regional Government of Coquimbo, to define the details of its implementation.
