This activity full of Chileanness and camaraderie was developed with great attendance.

A pleasant day was lived by the members of the university community who attended the traditional celebration of National Holidays, organized by the University of La Serena, through the Human Resources Department, which was marked by the high number of people and the active participation of officials in the cueca contest and popular games that took place on Wednesday, September 10, at the Isabel Bongard Campus. 

During this activity, university authorities, headed by the Rector, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés, deans, directors, academics, officials and students of the state campus, as well as representatives of the Mutual de Seguridad, Coopeuch and Caja Los Andes, were able to enjoy the musical show "Tribute to my guitar", offered by the folkloric group "Tranal", made up of officials from the University of La Serena. Also the rudeness and talent of the couples who encouraged the applauded cueca competition, made up of Germán Montecinos and Paola Díaz (first place), María Teresa Collado and Mario Hidalgo (second place) and Jannette Araya and Luis Carrasco (third place).

In addition, it was the right time to reward the winners of the various popular games held during the morning, including: Loreto Villalobos, Miguel Trigo, Hugo Chinga (grass stick), Verónica Huerta, Mauro Cuello (hopscotch), Joselyn Bertolla (dominoes ), Wilson Díaz, Sandra Tarifeño (throwing the horseshoe), Diego Castillo, Loreto Villalobos (sack race), Miguel Trigo (spinning top), Nelson Aguirre (emboque) and Luperfina Miranda (playa).

Both the couples in the cueca contest and the winners of the popular games received courtesy gifts from Caja Los Andes, Coopeuch, Mutual de Seguridad, Óptica D'Ibáñez, OTIC Proforma and Comercial Iduya. Various gifts were also raffled among the attendees and awards were given to the officials of the Financial Standardization Unit and to Eduardo Cortés for their active participation in this activity full of Chileanness and camaraderie.

“It is especially on these dates that our cultural traditions are reborn, often dormant for the rest of the year. However, it is the great opportunity to break with everyday life, with individualism and promote the relational and awaken that collective unconscious as a nation, as a people who share the experience of coexistence, the sense and social and imaginary meanings, it is here when the distinction of 'us' is naturalized since we all make up a 'we' that translates into a relationship of national identity”, expressed the director of Human Resources of the ULS, Héctor Bugueño, who urged the entire community of the University of La Serena "To enjoy these National Holidays, to constitute an instance of reunion, mutual recognition, a sense of belonging and appreciation of what is simple and fundamental, we invite you to return to our origins, to return to the bosom of the family and the country."

This traditional celebration of National Holidays in the ULS ended with the tasting of snacks and the melodies of the group "Tranal".
