Students with graduation profile participate in AngloAmerican talk on the Young Professionals Program

Internships and Memoirs are the programs for which applications are open on this date.

One hundred students with a graduation profile from the Civil Engineering, Environmental Civil Engineering, Mining Civil Engineering, Industrial Civil Engineering, Mechanical Civil Engineering, Commercial Engineering and Psychology degrees from the University of La Serena, participated in the talk by the AngloAmerican company about its Young Professionals Programme. 

The activity was coordinated by the ULS Graduate Monitoring Office and had as a speaker the psychologist of the Young Professionals Program, Maximiliano Schnettler Ramírez, who presented the main characteristics of the different programs to which students with a graduation profile can apply. and recent graduates, as well as relevant background information on the company's work in Chile.

“The idea and objective of coming to the University of La Serena was to present the programs for young professionals. This category is based on four major programs: Internships, Memories, Undergraduates and Graduates, which are each carried out with a specific periodicity. Fundamentally, we were here promoting everything that has to do with internships and memories, for which today we have the application open through our website (http://www.angloamerican-chile.cl). There you will find a banner where you will be able to apply. It's quite easy, the idea is to do a session, upload your background and you will be able to apply," says Schnettler. In this way, applications will allow them to apply for places to carry out these stages of their university careers in one of the company's operations in the country.

conf angloam 2In the case of Internships and Reports, the former are carried out in the months of January and February, while the latter can be carried out at any time of the year. Applicants must be in their last or penultimate year of studies and the places to develop them are: Santiago, Los Bronces, El Soldado, Chagres, Mantos Blancos and Mantoverde. In addition, those selected will be assigned a tutor.

On the other hand, the Undergraduate Program is intended for penultimate or final year students in the disciplines Geology, Mining, Metallurgy, Engineering, Project Management, Communications and Community Relations, Finance and Human Resources. Those who are selected can opt for internship and/or memory slots in the company's operations, co-financing of their studies, assignment of a company supervisor to be their internship or memory tutor, and they also have options to enter the Program. of Graduates.

This last instance is aimed at recently graduated young people, it has a maximum duration of 24 months, a technical development plan and leadership skills, entry with an indefinite contract, internships for the different operations and assignment of a tutor for the entire duration of their stay in the program. . 

conf angloam 3Maximiliano Schnettler emphasizes that “we are interested in professionals who have integrity. There is a value that is fundamental for us and that has to do with concern and respect. We have several values, but probably the first of all is security. (…). “We believe it is the right way to do the job (…), achieve production goals, but safely.”

Finally, the representative of AngloAmerican remembers how important it is that young people “dare to apply, that they are proactive in looking for options for different programs. Both in our company and in many others there are programs, versions that should try to search, find out, request information. I believe that this greatly influences the opportunities that one creates along the way. If I could give you some advice, it is to stay restless searching, learning and being able to get where you want to go.”
