The activity was part of the work program generated within the framework of the Curricular Renewal process developed by the University of La Serena.

Within the framework of the Curriculum Renewal process promoted by the University of La Serena, the Teaching Directorate, through the Teaching Improvement Unit (UMD) and the Faculty of Engineering, carried out the second and last stage of the course called “ Characteristics of innovation and entrepreneurship as a seal of the renewal of ULS Engineering”, aimed at the academic managers of the Faculty. 

The course included the participation of Dr. Pedro Vera Castillo, director of the Entrepreneurship Promotion and Development Program (EMPRENDO) of the University of Concepción, and its objective was to generateStrategies to implement the characteristics of the graduation profile of innovation and entrepreneurship in future professionals of the Faculty of Engineering. 

According to the head of the Teaching Improvement Unit, Dr. Pamela Labra, “the aim is that future engineers can develop skills that allow them to perform successfully in the changing world of work of which they will be part. To achieve this objective, the idea is to work at a macro, meso and microcurricular level, in the redesign of engineering careers, seeking to create new subjects that contain the characteristics of innovation or entrepreneurship, or implement methodological strategies in existing subjects that can contribute to the achievement of this seal.”

The professional added that “this course leaves important challenges for both the managers and academics of the Faculty of Engineering and also for the entire University, given that the professional demands for our students today strongly demand innovation and entrepreneurship as a basic element for professionals of the XNUMXst century,” explained Labra.
