In the grand final “Los Brazucas” win the ULS Titled Cup

With a great game and a score of 8-7 in favor of “Los Brazucas” against “Los Canallas”, the Baby Soccer Championship “Copa Titulados ULS” culminated, organized by the Graduate Monitoring Office of the University of La Serena and which for almost two months brought together eight teams of graduates, graduates, undergraduate and postgraduate students from the four faculties of the institution. 

The two teams with the best performance in the two stages of the tournament reached the final, starring in a spectacular match, which was decided in the last minutes. The scoring team, “Los Brazucas”, was with the team with the best defense, “Los Canallas”, having as a previous precedent the close 3-XNUMX draw that they achieved on the second date of the Gold Group, which brought together the four best teams of The first phase. 

In the disputed final, “Los Brazucas” took the lead and “Los Canallas” quickly caught up with them on the scoreboard, even being ahead by two goals. But the tournament's scorers came back and in the 39th minute of the match they sealed the score.

“We are quite happy. We met former colleagues from the University from the Civil Engineering, Architecture, and Construction careers as well and we are very happy for the victory achieved. We had a round championship, we could say it. It was a difficult game, but in the end we could win. We have good players, many of them were selected from the University. We have always participated in the Intercareer Championship (of the ULS), we know each other, we always play ball together and it is nice that we can meet again at the University because, well, we go out and get away a little from what we "It's coming here, to the complex, so this brings back good memories," said the captain of the champions, Miguel Díaz. 

final 2As in every team match, there was no lack of the presence of his cabal, Máximo Díaz, Miguel's little son and main Brazuca fan, a team that also won the championship's goalscorer trophy, which went to its maximum gunner, Luis Rodríguez Araya (Civil Engineering, 24 goals), who registered with 4 goals in the final. Meanwhile, “Los Canallas” were the team with the least beaten goal, thanks to the notable action of their goalkeeper, Gerardo Galleguillos.

Prior to this match, the final of the Silver Group was played, where the favorites, “Computación FC”, beat “Ágora” 4-1. With a weak first stage of the championship and a notable rebound in the second phase, the Silver winners reached this stage at their best, showing great collective play. “I think we relaxed, at first we were a little anxious and then we started playing, having fun, which was the idea of ​​the championship,” commented its captain, Humberto Farías. “We have been playing together almost our entire career, the same teammates. And very happy with this experience, because since the University Interrace Championship we had not had the opportunity to play together, to wear the same shirt that we had when we were in the race,” he added.

Likewise, on the previous date, the third places were defined, achieved by “Gatos Guatones” in Gold and “Física FC” in Silver.

During the awards ceremony, the person in charge of the Department of Physical Education and Sports of the ULS, Pedro Vergara, congratulated and thanked the players who participated. “It is pleasant to see former students, graduates, and professionals, that one had the opportunity to share with them many times on these fields,” he declared. Likewise, he expressed his desire for this tournament to continue for many years, recognizing the great work of the organizers.

final 3In turn, the person in charge of the Graduate Monitoring Office, Luis Carrasco, highlighted that the evaluation is completely positive, since professionals from both the public and private world and students from this university met. “The idea was to bring them together, to help with job placement. Some were able to get interviews, data, contact networks were expanded, which was one of the fundamental objectives of this Championship,” he specified. 

“This is one of the activities that is done to increase in a certain way the degree of job insertion of students, as well as other activities: the employability talks that the Office does through the Skills Strengthening Program, also the Job Fair , which is going to be done for the second time, with 30 organizations,” he added. Likewise, Carrasco valued the support provided by the Department of Physical Education and Sports of the General Directorate of Student Affairs ULS, for its permanent support, providing the departments and personnel necessary for the proper development of the tournament.
